Membership

Membership

Full membership of The Compassionate Friends is open to parents, grandparents and siblings who have experienced the death of a child.  Full membership covers you and your spouse and any children under 18 living at the same address.

We also offer associate membership to individuals or agencies in the community with an interest in helping further the aims of our organisation.

Why should I become a member?

Parents and families come as they wish to our support meetings for as long as their needs are met. It is not necessary to attend the support meetings to access our other services and resources, such as telephone listeners and library materials. Present at every meeting are parents who have worked through their own grief and who can empathize with the bereaved family and truly be with them.

Newly bereaved members receive a copy of the newsletter free of charge for the first twelve months. To continue receiving the newsletter after this introductory period, a membership fee will be payable (see below).

Members also have the option of placing a tribute photo of their child on our Memorial Wall, memorial and birthday notices in the newsletter, as well as accessing our library services and attending the annual grief and loss seminar.

TCF Membership fosters a feeling of belonging to community that understands your grief and ensures parents and families are supported after the loss of their child.

Fees

We do not charge fees when you first join TCFQ – which allows you to use our services and determine they are right for you before you need to make any payment.  After the introductory period of around six months, we will contact you about becoming a financial member.

Annual Membership fees are due in October each year :

$35.00 – if you choose to receive the newsletter electronically
$50.00 – if you would like to receive a printed newsletter

If you are unable to pay due to financial hardship, please submit your application and contact us to discuss your situation.  We do not refuse membership to anyone who is unable to pay.
